Pricing

Walnut.io doesn't offer transparent pricing. You need to book a demo with their sales team in order to know what it costs and get access to the platform. Reportedly, it's said to start at $9,200/year.

HowdyGo starts at $39/month for unlimited users. You can sign up and test out the platform for free, without having to go through sales. You can see detailed pricing information here.

Interactivity

Both Walnut.io and HowdyGo offer full HTML recording as default. This means that your interactive demo will look and feel just like the real thing. No static screenshots!

If your platform makes use of interactions or animations (eg: drop down menus, drag & drop, multiplayer editing, or even confetti 🎉), HowdyGo will automatically record them and replay those interactions in HTML, rather than just skip from the start to end screen of your interaction.

Recording process

To record a Walnut.io demo, you use their Chrome extension to capture individual pages of your SaaS. Once you have individual captures of each page you want in your demo, you have to individually stitch them together to create a flow. This can be quite a time consuming process for longer, complex demos.

With HowdyGo, the Chrome extension records a flow as you click through your app. It remembers where you clicked to get to which page and will automatically build you a flow you can start editing.

Editing

Hotspots and tooltips

Both Walnut.io and HowdyGo allow you to use a variety of callouts and modals to draw attention to features and progress a viewer through a demo. Both are easily customisable in the editor.

Brand colors and fonts

Both Walnut.io and HowdyGo allow you to use your brand's colours and fonts in your demos. Walnut.io allows some further customisation options like setting tooltip and button styles.

Demo checklist

Both platforms provide the ability to split a longer demo into multiple sections which are checked off as a viewer completes them. Viewers have the ability to skip to each section and complete them in their order of preference.

Edit HTML content and images in the recording

Both Walnut.io and HowdyGo allow you to edit any HTML text or image inside your recordings.

Personalize demo with prospect info

Both Walnut.io and HowdyGo allow you to personalize the content of a recording with a prospect's information and logo. On Walnut.io, you need to manually create a share page for each prospect you personalize for, while on HowdyGo you can do so automatically by passing parameters through the url.

Analytics

Lead capture

It's easy to add lead capture forms inside a demo with both Walnut.io and HowdyGo. Simply choose at which stage of the demo you want to insert your lead capture form and drag and drop the fields you want to collect. On both platforms leads will be passed through to any integrations you have set up.

Track viewer engagement

Both Walnut.io and HowdyGo provide detailed analytics that show you how viewers engage with your demos.

Integrations

Both platforms offer extensive integration options with CRMs, marketing and analytics tools. As part of the HowdyGo enterprise plan, you can also request custom integrations with any tools you may be using and are not yet supported. Generally this takes under a week to get up and running.

Support

Both Walnut.io and HowdyGo provide fast support via in-app chat. With HowdyGo, you also get access to a shared Slack channel where our team is instantly available to help you maximise the value you get from the platform.
