Introducing HowdyGo Sandboxes

It’s high time to stop wrangling the demo environment your team uses for sales calls. Sandboxes are here!

Demo environments are a challenge for most teams because they require shared ownership across product marketing, sales, and engineering. They also often require hacky workarounds to provision, reset and maintain them.

In the sales process this plays out in:

  • Sales enablement getting stuck creating fake data and dealing with account provisioning
  • AEs getting stressed that demo environments will crash, bug out, or show awkward error messages at an important moment in a call

Sandboxes solve these problems for you.

What Sandboxes Can Do

Sandbox Flow Chart

Sandboxes take the best parts of interactive product demos (linear guided tours of your product) and make it easy to create replicas of your app that can be navigated freely and in full-screen.

This is more flexible than your existing demo environment because you can:

  • Break out of the linear journey and get a real feel for the whole application.
  • Branch environments: Make any button clickable and jump to any screen, so your whole nav bar can link to another part of your product.
  • Show full responsiveness: Your app is full screen and fully flowable.
  • Share access for your GTM team instantly without waiting for account setup or access provisioning.

Turn your product into a clickable, pixel-perfect demo environment in <30 mins. No technical setup, no data prep, no relying on engineers.

Have a Look: Salesforce Sandbox Example

To click around and have a look, try out the Salesforce Sandbox. Click around and explore the UI just like a real demo, but without the risks of updates breaking the demo environment or error messages popping up.

How Can Sandboxes Help Demo Your Product?

  1. Better prioritisation in the sales process - Sales can maintain their own sales environment without needing engineering support. Engineers are freed up to focus on things that move the product forwards, and the GTM team can focus on adding value in the sales process.
  2. Less risk - Sandboxes remove the risks of fragile test data and demo disasters like crashes on big calls. Instead, you have fully isolated HTML/CSS replicas of your app that stay stable regardless of changes to your app in production.

Why We Built Sandboxes

When we started HowdyGo, our goal was to fix a problem we'd experienced so many times as engineering managers: It’s really challenging trying to consistently demo complex software products.

We started HowdyGo focusing on interactive demos to solve that problem. Now we’ve built sandboxes as another solution to the problem.

As engineers, we often saw the particular challenges demo environments posed. The engineering team naturally wants to fix demo environment issues, but improving the product for customers generally wins out. So demo environment improvement work gets sidelined.

Since day one, we’ve worked toward this end state where we can offer both interactive demo solutions and sandboxes. Now we have the pieces of the puzzle to make that happen. We’re excited to share another option for demoing your product, right in the HowdyGo app.
